The Outlook for Someday Awards 2012

On Wednesday night (5th December) the Outlook for Someday Awards 2012 was held at the Aotea Centre, Auckland City. Twenty winning film making teams out of 190 entries walked down the red carpet to receive their awards.

We are proud to say that our school won the Tagata Pasifika Award which was awarded to a film by a Pasifika film-maker or team and/or featuring Pasifika language or culture. Our movie was called 'Lost Paradise' and it was about the effects of global warming in the Pacific.

Well done to Makerita, Shoal and Kingston for receiving the award on the teams behalf (which includes Toreka and Selena). Thank you to the teachers and parents who attended for their support. A big HUGE thank you to the Outlook for Someday organisers and Tagata Pasifika for the cool prizes.

Art Alive

The term our topic was Art Alive. Team 5 studied the life and art of 5 famous artists: Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet and Daniella Hulme. Students had to take photos of their 'special place' and use it to provide inspiration for their artworks. They also attempted to paint their 'special place' in the style of an artist that they selected.

Please take a look at their individual blogs to find out more.
