On Tuesday the NZ Dance Company visited our school. We were treated to a range of interesting dances from the group. Their use of body movement and sound/music to express themselves was incredible. Take a look.

Te Taiao o Tamaki - Manaiakalani Cluster Exhibition 2017
Well done to everyone who contributed to the Manaiakalani Cluster exhibition at Te Oro yesterday. All our Manaiakalani schools celebrated the work we have all done this term learning about our local environment. The theme was Te Taiao o Tamaki. Our kapa haka group was amazing! We also loved the performances and exhibits from the other schools in our cluster. The following movie shares some highlights from the day.

Hidden Figures - Year 7 & 8 Extn Trip
On Wednesday the Year 7 & 8 Extension group went on a trip to watch 'Hidden Figures' at the Sylvia Park Movie theatre. We were lucky to have sponsors from Mr Vogt. His sisters loved the movie so much that they decided to do some fundraising so that a group of students from our school could go and watch the movie for free.
The movie itself was absolutely amazing. We learnt about how three African American women were able to overcome huge obstacles in their lives to work at and make a significant impact at NASA.

Review: HIDDEN FIGURES is the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle MonĂ¡e)—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.

School Picnic 2017
Each year our whole school heads down to the Pt England reserve and beach for our annual school picnic. Last year we had to cancel at least 3 times due to the weather. However this year, the weather was beautiful! Thanks to all our teachers, staff and parent helpers for making it possible.
