On the first day back of each term our teachers always take part in immersion assembly. This could be in the form of a movie, play, or just by dressing up. The purpose of immersion assembly is to introduce the school wide theme for the term in an interesting way. It is always a way to 'hook' students into learning for the term and gives others an idea of what each team will be focusing on.
Our immersion assemblies are always interesting and entertaining. However this particular assembly for our theme 'Guardians of the Galaxy' was absolutely AWESOME! Here are some highlights.

Y 5&6 Mini Production Back in da Day
The Year 5&6 Extension group worked really hard in term 2 to put together a mini production called 'Back in da Day'. The class was put into teams to work on different aspects of the production e.g. costume designers, choreographers, set designers, script writers etc. The show was performed in front of the whole school and was absolutely amazing! Here are some snippets from the show which was just over half an hour long.
Team 3 Tamarereti Animations
During Term 2, Team 3's Hyperstudio task was to retell the story of Tamarereti and how he created the seven stars of Matariki. Students created graphics and animations and added a voice over to tell the story. Here are some examples of work that were shared on PENN (Pt England News Network).

Te Taiao o Tamaki - Manaiakalani Cluster Exhibition 2017
Well done to everyone who contributed to the Manaiakalani Cluster exhibition at Te Oro yesterday. All our Manaiakalani schools celebrated the work we have all done this term learning about our local environment. The theme was Te Taiao o Tamaki. Our kapa haka group was amazing! We also loved the performances and exhibits from the other schools in our cluster. The following movie shares some highlights from the day.
