In Term 4 our theme is Te Wa Toi or Art Time. Our Year 7&8 Extension students were asked to select a well known artist to create a digital artwork based on the style of that particular artist. Then our students were asked to share their learning in an interactive way. Their artwork was printed out. Some pieces of foil was attached to the artwork and to Makey Makey and Scratch. When the student pressed on the piece of foil connected to a Makey Makey wire, a piece of text would appear on Scratch to share information about the artwork.
Here are some students explaining the process in the following movie:

Fairytale News - Film Festival Movie
Are you the type of person who prefers to watch the news? Have you ever read any of the classic fairytale stories e.g. Cinderella? Well imagine if you could rewrite the stories of some well known fairytales? Imagine if the characters were real? Take a look at our movie and see what you think.
This movie was created by our Year 7&8 Extension students. Students were split into 3 main groups and had to rewrite a fairytale in the form of a news report. Scripts were created and part of the movie was filmed and edited by our students.

JumanG.I. Film Festival Movie
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be sent back in time? You might have some fun seeing what your parents looked like when they were kids. But what if it turned out to be a nightmare? Check out our cool movie to find out more!
This movie was created by our Year 5&6 Extension students. It was inspired by the movie Jumanji. We called our movie JumanG.I. because of the name of the area that many of our students live in as well as the shopping centre (G.I. is also known as Glen Innes). The students came up with the idea, and collaborated with their peers to write the script using a shared doc. They brought their own costumes from home and enjoyed creating this movie.
We used a couple of modern songs for the dance battle and then used hits from the 90s in the rest of the movie. We also used some sound effects and special effects from imovie. Thanks to Mr Jacobsen for helping transport some of us in his van to one of the locations (Glen Innes shopping centre).
