Year 5&6 Talanoa Projects inspired by the Auckland Museum Trip - Term 2

Early on in Term 2 the Year 5 to 8 Extension groups had the opportunity to visit the Pacific Collection at the Auckland Museum. This was organised by a man called Ma'ara Maeva from the Museum and his colleagues as part of the Talanoa Programme. It was an amazing opportunity to see artefacts up close and see some of the work that the Museum curators do.

When our students got back to school they were inspired to create their own movies about the trip to the Museum. Students worked in groups to create some pretty cool animations, documentaries and movies inspired by the Talanoa Programme.

Rube Goldberg Machines - Team 3

Have you ever heard of a Rube Goldberg Machine? Have you ever seen one before? They are pretty amazing to see in action. Think of a set of simple machines working together. The students in Team 3 who are in Year 3 and 4 had to create an animation of their own Rube Goldberg Machine. Take a look at some of their amazing work.

40 Hour Famine 2018

This year the 40 Hour Famine was held during the weekend of 8th-10th of June. On Friday night a group of students stayed over at school to take part in the 20 Hour Famine. The students had lots of fun performing in front of each other. They could only have barley sugars and Just Juice. The money raised will go to help children living in poverty in South Sudan.

In this year’s 40 Hour Famine the extension group (and several students from Teams 4 & 5) raised a total of $1,584  this year. Congratulations and well done! Thanks to Miss Timmi, Miss Wylma and Miss Haare for your help.
